Hi everyone, somewhere along the way I managed to corrupt my install's system files (was installing Final Fantasy VII, which I've done without problem before). This manifested itself as entering a loop of constant restarting during the Windows XP loading screen. Looking around, it seems this is usually simply solved by repairing the installation. Upon popping my recovery CD in and booting from it, however, I was not given the option to repair, only to reinstall. I tried going ahead with installing on the partition without formatting (figuring it might give me the option later), but it merely created a second copy of xp on the hard drive (which works fine, but did not fix the original install). So I was wondering if anyone here could give me advice on how I could use my Alienware Windows XP Home Edition System Recovery CD to repair my original install. Worst case scenario, the new install will allow me to backup for a true fresh install, but if possible I'd like to avoid that.
