MessageApp

When I turn on my computer there is sometimes a button labeled "MessageApp" which I cannot open. How do I open it to see what it is?

It's just a button? Sitting on the middle of your desktop? Give us a little more info, or a screenshot would be nice.

I don't have a screenshot...it is down on the bottom of my screen directly next to my Start button. It says MessageApp on it, but nothing happens when I click on it. How do I get it to either open or go away?

It's a Dell help thing. Someone already answered this for me. Its not a virus or anything damaging.

The MessageApp doesn't cause any problems in itself, does it?

It will not cause any problems if you uninstall it.  What you might want to do, however, is disable it from running at startup using msconfig.  That way if you need it at some point in the future, you can re-enable it.

How did they tell you that you could get it to go away or open? Do I have to shut my computer off just to get it to go away?

I don't have Windows XP, but I think the following should work.  Go to Start > Run and type msconfig followed by Enter.  Click on the startup tab and remove the checkmark next to Dell Support or messageapp (I don't know which one would be listed there).  If this isn't right, there is always the Help file on your computer - just search for msconfig.

Oh, yes, thank you! I would like to do that, but I am new to the computer, and do not know how...is there anything you can do to explain to me how to go about disabling the program?
