If you don't have that OS Recovery Utility (it stopped shipping in July '05), then you had the option to buy them when you bought your computer. I guess you didn't do that.MarkASparks

from the document link above:
Run the Dell™ OS Recovery UtilityNOTE: The Dell OS Recovery Utility is available on Dimension computers that were shipped between December 15, 2004 and July 15, 2005 and on Inspiron computers between January 10, 2005 and July 15, 2005.
kittybohls,
As CTskydiver stated and the document link above confirms the Dell OS Recovery Utility is not available on the PC's mentioned after 7/15/05.
Call Dell and politely insist that they send you the:
The XP Operating System Disc (version on your pc), Dell Resource CD, Dell Tools System Software CD, and any other programs that you paid for or that came preinstalled on your machine that you may need in the future. (other programs such as Sonic Digital media & MyDVD / PowerDVD ect.)

Kitty,I didnt get the disks either when I ordered my wifes xps400 . I called support and they sent out the os disk and two other disks for the pc at no charge. You need to do this sooner than later, after 3 weeks they wont send them out free(I think).

First, you need to read your User Manual which has this information. It is also available here:
