start up programs

Can someone tell me what the system command is to define which programs load upon start up.

I know it is the Start/Run function but don't remember the code. I want to stop a specific program

from loading every time I log on.

Thanks.

    That would be msconfig.

    Configsys!

That's it.  It listed a checkoff box for Photo shop.

Thanks. It was really annoying having it load every time.

Thank you. I see using that code a long lit of items appears. I don't know what to deselect.

It seems to me that I recall a simpler process (such as check off box to select

the programs you want to load on start up).

All I am trying to do is stop Photoshop from loading when I log on.

I would also recommend CCleaner if you intend messing about with startup items in the future.

With CCleaner, you don't get the annoying popup box that MSConfig shows on startup (if you change an item).

It also lets you delete start-up entries altogether. Something which you have to do in the registry if you use MSConfig.

I use CCleaner and like it.  Another option is Windows Defender.  It's also free, offers spyware protection, and has a tool to activate or deactivate startup programs (similar to CCleaner).

If you want a real high-tech option that controls programs, processes, and more, get Autoruns.exe (free from the Microsoft site).

I use CCleaner as well for this. Extremely simple. And with recent versions, you can simply disable a startup program...not delete the entry completely as was the only choice before.
