XP rercovery . Idea?

I hope I'm in a right place here.
Wonder if any of you guy's Can tell me how or in which way you put a Windows XP CD on pc { { {Diminution}} go back to manufacture original settings as they say.
I waited 40 minute on a software help line.
I was kindly told that I have to wait another 40 minute for someone to help me beside the $35.00. £19.99 charge.
I welcome if any of you can give me some few steps Please???
I have worked with Floppy disk recovery in the past & not with CD.
Now that I have put the XP package on the computer. all it dose computer starts normally & I have option of install or upgrade.
I wonder if that is all It is or dose the setting of computer have to be changed soon after reboot???
Hope to hear from someone who really knows.

If you can give me some few steps.
I can print & start it.
I do not have problem with installing the XP it self.
but don't want install it & see that no change has been made and my Programs or problems are still on the PC

The Dell Reference (tab at top) has information on reinstalling software.

Here is the instructions for the 8300, which is typical, but they have specific instructions for the various models.

The closest to factory condition you can revert a system, is to reinstall the operating system and applications.
