Hi,

I have an Inspiron 8200 Laptop that is about 3 years old. I am on my second AC adaptor which i have had for only 3 or 4 months. I was using my computer and suddenly the AC adaptor died. I bought a new adaptor but by mistake it was the 3.5V instead of 4.5V, but still worked to charge the batteries. I left this plugged into the computer to charge overnight and the same thing happened. The little green light died and the adaptor would not work in a variety of sockets.

Is there something wrong with my Inspiron that is shorting out these adaptors? or is it very bad luck? do you think it is time for a new machine?
