C610 Memory error @ POST when adding 2nd memory stick
HI - I've got a Latitude C610 (BIOS A16) that has been working just fine for about a year (Aug 2004 to now) with two 256MB memory sticks (they are both PC133 CL3, but from different manufacturers (Micron and Infineon, for the record)). However, recently, @ POST (BIOS POST type is set to THOROUGH) I get a message something like: Memory error at 1FFE0004. Expecting DA1, found DA0. Reducing amount of available memory.
However, when I reduce the number of memor sticks from 2 to 1, the POST message goes away.
I've swapped in memory from a C810 that I have (also 256MB PC133 CL3 (ALL of the sticks work fine in the C810)- manfacturers are SAMSUNG and TOSHIBA, for the record) - again, if I use (any) two memory sticks, the error shows up (slightly different memory address in some cases), but if I use only one memory stick, the POST works just fine. The single memory stick can be either in DIMM slot 1 or 2, with same results (no errors with one stick).
Anyone seen this problem? Is this a MOBO problem? Or should I try to use two memory sticks that are EXACTLY the same (again, the C810 doesn't seem to mind - I can use any two memory sticks in it and POST works fine and I'm able to use the full 512MB - it's just the C610 (and only recently) that is having hiccups.)

Ooops - I mean a C610 (not C620) MOBO. DaveTake a look at the Dell auction site. http://www.dellauction.com/
They usually have some for sale and depending, at a good price. Just don't get caught up in the auction as there will be another one a few hours away.

- I own 2 C610 at this time and have never seen any error like that. I suspect it is a MB problem if it does the exact same thing with ANY 2 sticks of RAM installed. Have you tried setting it to Fast Boot and do you get the error?? I have never set my C610's BIOS to Thorough so maybe I get the error but never see it????

Hi Ed,
Nope...get the same results when I use FAST vs THOROUGH. I'm stumped (I'm also shopping for a C620 MOBO just in case).
