Go to SolutionConnecting to WIFI Issues after reinstalling Windows 7
Hi,
I have a Dell Studio XPS 1647 laptop. I recently had the hard drive fail on me and I replaced it and reinstalled windows 7 home premium on the new hard drive. I can connect to the internet through a cable but I have absolutely no wireless options available to me on the laptop. I always had before.
I looked under my hardware devices and found three without drivers listed as:
Base System Device
Base System Device
Network Controller
I assumed the Network controller was my wireless device and it needs a driver? However I have no way of identifying that device or the driver I need. Any suggestions on how to resolve this issue?
Thank you for your time on this matter who ever you are.

Hi PCPetey,
Please provide the device ID for the hardware that requires drivers. You may follow the instructions mentioned below to get the Device ID:
- In ‘Device Manager’, right click ‘Network Controller’.
- Click ‘Properties’.
- Click ‘Details’.
- Search for ‘Device Instance ID’.
- Provide the numbers after VEN and DEV.
Similarly check and share the device ID for other devices with missing drivers.
Keep me posted with the results. I will be glad to assist you further.

Thanks to you both!
Regarding the above links.
I installed the Ricoh Card Reader links driver and that worked!!
The Dell Wi-Fi + BT link installed Bluetooth but did not install wifi. I still have the Network Controller device needing a driver. Any other suggestions as to where I can get it from?
