hi. i broke the lid to my laptop. but like an idiot i kept using it till i could get the new cover. and by the time i got the new cover the screen was dark. unfortunately i bought my laptop overseas so have no warranty and of course can't call customer service cuz they keep asking me for number on back and it doesn't work!

i took it to a shop where i live and they told me that the data cable is broken.

now i am in the states. do you think i can get it fixed? went to geek squad today without laptop, just wanted to ask them and they told me i need a whole new something, i can't remember and it will cost me $700.

i can still see the screen in the dark but not too well.

any ideas?
