Double window?

When I click on X to close a window in file explorer, the window sometimes opens right back up and I have to click on X again. How can this be cured on my Inspiron 5729, i7, 17”?

    When did the issue start. 

    have you tried system restore??

    I had to do a system restore.  Then while setting up again, it started.  I believe it started when I selected double-click to open an item in folder options.  At any rate, I went back and changed it to single-click to open an item  and have not had the problem again, yet.
