System was placed in a Table ( Not in Bed ). Nothing was obstructing the flow of air to the fan from outside

    Hi sharathmekottil,

You can try cleaning the 'air vents' with a can of compresses air. Check if all the 'Rubber feets' are intact. Once done, update the BIOS, Chipset, notebook system software and Video driver. The following link will help you to download the necessary drivers:

    Link for BIOS: http://dell.to/UqL39K

Please connect the Ac Adapter while updating the BIOS and do not use the system once the update is initiated and until the system restarts completely.

    Link for Chipset driver: http://dell.to/UzpdLP

Link for Notebook system software: http://dell.to/SHYvRv

    Link for Video driver: http://dell.to/SV3Rft

Once you open the above link, you will see a list of drivers available. Select the driver for the video card model of the system and install the application.

Before installing the Video driver, uninstall the existing Video drivers by going to Start menu> Control Panel> Programs and features. Once the programs window opens, locate the ATI/Intel Video driver (Uninstall both if both are available) and uninstall by right clicking on it.

The drivers have to be installed in the same order as mentioned above and please restart the system after every driver installation.

    I hope this helps

Please let us know in case of any queries

    Thanks and regards

My computer was working fine till yesterday( no Heating Problem). I tried to format my computer. The problem started for the first time while I was installing windows. Today I installed windows from a very cold Room. Soon after installing windows, my computer was turned off automatically( because of overheating). So I checked the Temperature . I found GPU temperature was very high.( around 108 degree celcius). I turned off computer and after cooling down Installed Graphics Driver. After restarting I found the temperature was going down from 90 to 58.

I have a few questions now. Why did that overheating occured ? Will this occur again If i try to install windows next time?

Additional Details. I have checked the windows experience index right now. While checking I found the temperature reached around 104 degree twice but was in 80 degree for most of time.

Desktop Performance for Windows Aero was 5 when I checked last time . But Now its 3.3 :((

Is there any problem with my graphics card? How can I check whether my Graphics card is working fine?

    Hi sharathmekottil,

It is usual that the GPU temperature becomes high when there is no driver. That is why there was an increase in the temperature when you had formatted the system and reinstalled it. Now that the driver are installed, it should take care of the temperature. I would also like to know if you have installed all the drivers necessary for the system.

    I hope this helps.

Please do let me know in case of any queries.

    Thanks and regards
