Latitude E6230 - Clean Windows 7 Installation

Hello all -

I'm having difficulty doing a clean installation of Windows 7 x64 on a Dell E6230.  I have tried several different Windows x64 disks - such as Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Retail, Professional, etc. with both a USB flash and USB based CD/DVD drive.

No matter what I do, I get the message "A required CD/DVD drive device drive is missing.  If you have a drive floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now."

Right now I have a bootable USB drive with Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and also another USB drive where I've been attempting to find the right drive that Windows needs in order for me to continue with the installation.  Several of these drives are recognized by Windows when I receive the above message, but not of them install and let me continue to the installation.  I have also looked in the BIOS to see if there's anyway to force the USB ports to 2.0 vs. 3.0 as I have read that USB 3.0 can cause issues in these instances.

Is there any specific instructions for this laptop for a clean Windows 7 x64 installation?  Thanks.
