Meanwhile, unplug the battery and the adapter. Press and hold power button for 20 seconds. Plugin the adapter and turn on the computer.

In case the computer does not turn on, try a different outlet.

Meanwhile, perform LCD Built in self test (BIST) to check if it is an issue with the LCD.

To run the Built-In Self-Test perform the following:

Turn off computer.

Press and hold D key while pressing the power button. This will start the BIST.

The screen will display multiple flashing colors.

If the colors appear on the screen, LCD is working fine.

It is a Dell Inspiron 1545 Model No. PP41L. I can no get anything to come one the screen to do a LCD built in test. I have tried to hook an exterior monitor up VGA but still dont get anything.

If there is no display on LCD as well as external monitor, system board replacement is needed to isolate the issue further.
