Vostro 1700 HDD Replacement
Hi
I have a 4 year old Vostro 1700 and the HDD has failed on me so have to get a new one. This happened to me when it was a couple of months old, I seem to remember I had to use a "Utilities disk" before I insalled the O/S. I have searched everywhere for it but can not find it.
Any suggestions on how to procede?
Thanks
Eric

The utilities disc contains the drivers - you can get those from support.dell.com; you will need the chipset driver, Dell system software and your wired and wireless network drivers. Install in that order after installing Windows -- then go online and download the rest of the drivers.
