Windows Media Player slow

So I just got my XPS1710 yesterday. I didnt do a fresh re-load of Vista, I simply removed all of the nonsense software (I am still eating up about 54 processes on start-up). However that does not relate to my issue. When I open a media file, it takes Media Playerabout 10 secondsfor it to start playing the file. On every other machine, including another laptop I have running Vista, Windows Media Player plays the file almost immiedietly after opening the file, not waiting time. I disabled everything that goes on the internet to get more information on the song, yet it is still slow. Is this a normal Dell Loaded issue? Should I just re-load the whole OS, (I would rather not), or is there a relatively easy way to fix WMP?

Thanks!

    Hello,

I own a XPS m1210 with Windows Vista Ultimate and was facing the same problem as you. I experienced that if I disabled the audio enhancements in the sound settings, the audio files would start playing immediately. It might be worth it for you to give this a shot.

Disable all the enhancements will also disable the function of Creative SB ADVANCE MB. I tried to change the SB software equalizer and some EAX setting but it didn't take effect at all. DO anyone realize about this?
