For the past several months, I have planned all along to go with the Dell 2007WFP after reading postitive reviews in regards to gaming (which will be my main use).

 

But after quickly learning about this controversial "secret switching" of panels from the S-ISP to the S-PVA, I have seriously reconsidered my earlier plans.

 

First off, there is a noticeable difference between an S-ISP and S-PVA, and I was strictly limiting myself to an S-ISP monitor.

 

Therefore, unless Dell can guarantee that my model will be an S-ISP, I will be purcashing the NEC 20WMGX2  model.

 

I'm very dissapointed that my buying options were ruined, because I've heard such good things about Dell's warranty policies regarding their monitors. But like I mentioned above, I refuse to purchase a monitor that I can't be sure of what panel is being used. And again, there are noticable differences with the S-PVA that would be much less than satisfactory for gamers, or anyone in general who cares about the quality of their display.

 

Obviously I'm no Dell advisor, but would suggest they take care of this issue promptly. It has spread like wild-fire throughout the web (I read about it all at HardForums), and I think Dell is under-estimating their consumers, of which many are well-informed of this topic.

 

Please let me know if any changes will be made with Dell's practices, as I would still like to purchase the S-ISP Dell 2007WFP (but won't take any chances with an S-PVA).
