Backup Schedule

I would like to create a schedule every 3rd day of the month as a Full month and rest of the days should be either incremental nor incr+synth backups. I have tried with GUI mode but its not working properly in Monthly mode in the schedule properties and tried in Weekly mode its choosing full backup on every week same day.  How do I schedule it through Command line by using NSR_SCHEDULE option.

And is it advisable to run backup with Synth level. does it through any issues during restoration.

    Prashanna,

If you choose override and then Full it should only mark that day rather than that day for each week.

You can then go through and set for the months – and also a reminder to reset in the future to ensure it continues thereafter.

    Prashanna,

I would suggest first to create a schedule with a period of week assigned the basic backup level you wish to do.

    Might be an incremental.

Next please deactivate the view "Show Schedules as Calendar" by a right-click to the NMC operation pane of schedules.

Check for existing predefined schedules like "Full on 1st Friday of Month" how the override is set here.

    your override will be similar:

    full third every month

    The key here is: getdate

Just consult the man pages of a Linux or UNIX box.

    hth.

    Hello,

Do the right click to schedule and unmark show as calendar.

Than insert “full 2 day every month” to overrides. Save schedule and turn on show as calendar back.

    Regards

    Lukas

    Prashanna,

Do the following (assuming your backup server is unix)

    $ sudo nsradmin

nsradmin>. type: NSR schedule; name: schedule_name

nsradmin> update period: month; action: "incr incr full incr incr incr incr incr incr incr incr incr incr incr incr incr incr incr incr incr incr incr incr incr incr incr incr incr incr incr incr"

    nsradmin> p

Its not working. Is it advisible to rename NSRLADB file and try to create the schedule. Does it affects anything.

I hope you are looking at the schedule correctly? cause this is just an ordinary configuration. Try creating a new schedule resource. I hope you are not trying to modify a default schedule. Can you tell us the name of the schedule that you are trying to modify.

I have seen at least two suggestions here which should have worked so I wonder what does not work - can you show us your steps along with screenshots.  And forget silly idea of removing nsrladb.

Thanks all. I have just restarted the NSR services and fixed the issue as per the Crazyrov earlier advice. I believe the problem was occured in either wrong format nor not recoginised by Networker.
