The NetWorker Licensing Guide will help. Here is the link: https://support.emc.com/docu53910_NetWorker-8.2-Licensing-Guide.pdf?language=en_US

    hi ,

I've read the document already. but I can't find what I'm looking for. I just want to know how does Capacity based licensing works with VBA. What is the basis of the computation? is it the total size allocated for the VM or the actual usage of the VM?

    thanks!

Capacity licensing is based on the amount of backups that NetWorker processes. Is not based on what your VM capacity would be,

does this mean VM as an image file will not be backup as it is? for example, I have a VM w/ 1TB capacity but the usage is 100GB only. What would be the amount of backup that NetWorker will process?

    Many Thanks!

If the VMDK is set to be allocated dynamically then the total size of the VM should be equal to the current size of all the VMDK's attached to the respective VM.

if it is not dynamically allocated then NetWorker will backup all of the allotted space for  VMDK and will require a lot of licenses. thanks
