I presently have a desktop with windows 98se, downstairs, and an Inspiron 4150 laptop in with a docking station , monitor etc, upstairs. These are both presently on dial-up, and I can't stand it anymore. I am switching to comcast cable, which is now my cable TV provider. (DSL is not available) The question is, what all do I need to do this. According to what I can read, I need a router hooked up with my desktop downstairs, and a cable modem to get it going. Then I only need a wireless card for my pc slot on my laptop. That would enable me to get on the internet wirelessly from upstairs in the docking station plus anywhere else in the house, and maybe even outside a little. Is this correct, and what is the difference in 11b and 11g. Which one do I need? I realize this is a long question, but I desparatly need your help. Thanks so much.
