POOR SIGNAL

When I try to connect to my router wirelessly I have a very poor signal. My other PC is strong and I have contacted BT who have run various tests and everything is working well. Could it be that the wireless card I have needs updating or should I buy a new one which would help?

    Hi,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

You can check if there are any new updates available from the below mentioned link.

    http://dell.to/TVCXHd

    • Enter the Service tag details of your computer. Then click on Drivers and downloads.
    • Select the right operating system and in category select network.
    • At the bottom you will get a list of available drivers for network card. Download and install the latest version.

Also, you can check and adjust your adaptor's power settings from device manager.

    • Select Start > Run > type devmgmt.msc and click OK.
    • Locate your wireless adaptor under Network adapters, double click it and select the advanced tab.
    • Click on Transmit power from the property box and check the value.

Higher the value the more power the adaptor will use for Wi-Fi Connection but this will adversely affect the battery power.

I would recommend you to try these steps before replacing wireless adaptor.

Hope this helps. You can reply if you have any further queries.
