Transfering files/programs from old to new computer
Just bought a new Dell Vostro 220 Slim Tower. I need to transfer files and programs from my old Dell to my new one. I looked at software for that purpose but was scared off by the lousy reviews some of them got. I then found something called "The Tornado File Transfer Micro Computer" (Dell part #1521317) and all 6 reviews gave it a 5 out of 5 on all 3 categories. You just hook each end of the cable to the USB ports of your 2 computers and it puts up a screen on each computer that lists all files/programs/folders and you simply click and drag files from the old computer to the new and it transfers them. There is no software to download and it works with any Microsoft platform. (my old is XP home and my new is XP Pro SP3) It also comes with a free bundle called Data Drive Thru PC Eraser which removes sensitive files (credit card and soc. sec. #'s) using the same method as the Dept. of Defense. My question is: Have any of you used this device and is it as easy to use as it is represented to be? I can't stand the stress of another experience requiring lots of time, consulting with Dell techs, etc.
