Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) software????

Then you are talking about BMC software aka the management software from bmc.com

This is Dell support not BMC software inc support.

Posting in the BIOS forum of the hardware portion of the dell website is barking up the wrong tree.

hmm.. weird, but you do understand what i mean right? if i do a power cycle on the box.. before it gets to the freebsd boot loader, right after it scans for scsi, it says Strike F1 to continue.. for BMC.. i'm not at the datacenter now... but you do understand what i mean right?

I don't understand and am not very understanding.

However I think several things.

1. You have some kind of box that acts as a server.
It may or may not be actually a dell.

2. Your os is Unix/Linux based.

3. You remote into the system via telnet or some other software.

4. when you tell the system to reboot it hangs on a "Press F1 to continue" screen.

The Press F1 to continue is one of the most ANNOYING futile errors a system will give.
It usually has to do with keyboard missing or stuck Key errors. You can configure the
bios to NOT HALT on errors or to IGNORE Keyboard and Mouse errors etc.

Its probably a keyboard stuck message or a mouse failure or something on that order.
PRESS F1 TO CONTINUE has nothing whatsoever to do with any software BMC or otherwise
unless BMC has the same kind of error message in their software. I doubt that.
Im not sure but I find it to be highly unlikely.

You really didnt provide any information to start out with though as to what system
aka what service tag, os, etc that you have.

The question on how to unistall BMC management software should be answered by them Not by dell.

well that's very odd, but i'm not dumb, so i assume i just have to wait it out with this problem because i recall, it is set on "Report only" ... so this is one server i can't mess with.. also, it is the ONLY server with BMC.

i really appreciate your help, i will update it next time i have to reboot it.. thanks for everything.
