MD3000 Issue
Hey Guys,
I've just migrating our storage to a new SAN and was wanting to assign some of the old 450 GB 15k SAS drives from a now redundant MD3000 to our test lab MD3000
The test lab currently consists of 7 or so 146GB 15SAS in a Raid5, now I place these 450Gb drives into the test lab MD3000 and I go to MDSM and the disks showing as an 'Offline' Status but their mode is set to 'Assigned' and I cant assign them to anything.. the MDSM says thats there "no unconfigured capacity available"
Now I take it, it must have something to do with them coming out of a different MD3000. So I thought I'll just add another Perc card to the server and connect the MD3000 to that.. but then I remembered that you can't have 2 MD3000's connected to the same server...
So what would be my best bet to somehow migrate the data from the Test Lab MD3000 to the old MD3000 or get the drives from the MD3000 to show up correctly in the Test Lab MD3000??
Cheers Matt

Hmm they needed to be unasigned from the old MD3000 by deleting the Disk Group they were in. Or Exporting the diskgroup as a whole then re-importing it on the second MD3000.
Without that? I am pretty sure with the password reset cable dell support could assist you with this.
Be carefull, without having them unassigned? You actually ran the risk of hosing all existing disk groups.
