Thunderbolt options for dell precision tower 5820

Hi everyone,

I’ve already searched the forum thoroughly but haven't found any definitive answers: does anyone out there have experience using Thunderbolt PCIe cards with the 5820 in a Hackintosh setup?

I have a well-configured Win 11/Sonoma dual-boot system and would like to try adding a Universal Audio Apollo Twin MkII (TB2) audio interface.

My motherboard doesn't have a Thunderbolt header, fwik, but Isee the tb option in bios.

I found various users reporting successfully using TB3 cards on Windows, even without the GPIO cable. From what I’ve read, you lose hot-swapping capabilities on the macOS side, but connecting Thunderbolt devices while the system is powered off seems to be a viable workaround without the need for complex ssdt patching.

One user wrote that they installed also the TB2 card, designed for the 5810, into the 5820, and that it works undrr windows for both video output and data... I Wonder if should work on mac os too, that (older) card is cheaper and easier to get in EU (I'm in Italy)

Any firsthand advice? Wich are my options?

Thanks a lot!
