Dell 2155 cdn problems with scan on Windows 8.1 error 031-533 File Make Error

I have a Dell 2155cdn MFP and has worked great for all functions until installing Windows 8.1

when I try to use the printer to scan I get the following error code 031-533 "file make error"

This issue started after upgrading to Windows 8.1. The print functions fine but I can no longer scan because I get the above error.

I have run through make troubleshooting steps and my current Windows 8 machines are still able to receive scans from the printer.

I have tried uninstalling the printer and reinstalling. Deleted my share folder and setup the share via the Dell Address Book software and still no luck being able to scan.

Any thoughts?

Is Dell even watching these forums? or is this the type of support us consumers can expect from Dell?

I have been a longtime Dell supporter, personally have spent a lot of money myself and recommended to my clients many times, but the service that we consumers are receiving now is unacceptable.

Dell if you are reading could you:

    A) Provide a solution to this printer not being useable with Windows 8.1 or any future Windows OS's

    or

    B) Issue a RMA to me so I can return this brick for a full refund and purchase a HP MFP that actually works with Windows 8.1

I have the same Problem with my Dell 3115cn.

Network scan worked just fine with Windows 8, does not work any more after upgrade to Windows 8.1.

My daughters Win-7-PC still works with network scan in our home network, both 8.1-Machines don't.

There is a no way to downgrade Windows 8.1 to 8.0. I tried to reinstall a drivers, but it still gives me a same error.

As I see nobody in Dell cares about our issue. :emotion-45:

Update: The scanner seems to magically work now. I would assume there was some update included with the latest round of Windows 8.1 updates. Can anyone else confirm if applying the latest Win 8.1 patches resolves the original scan issue?

BTW, I never received a RMA from Dell nor a statement from them after many attempts to resolve this problem.

Indeed, applying the latest Win 8.1 patches resolves the original scan issue. And also I never received a RMA from Dell nor a statement from them after many attempts to resolve this problem. Good to know Dell, my next prinder won't be one of your brand anymore.
