I have seen on Dell's forums that trying another mouse can correct this problem.  I had this problem myself, I was using the Dell mouse (USB optical) that came with my computer and I have a AIO 922.  I replaced the Dell mouse by a Logitech (PS/2) and this problem disappeared.

Thanks for the tip.  Is Dell doing anything about this?

Is this also the reason why at times my mouse pointer jumps all over the screen?

    I will get a PS/2 mouse tomorrow.

I guess they are working on it, otherwise they will have many mice to replace.  Finally, last week I took the time to call Dell Support to ask them what they could do.  They are aware of the problem and they agreed to change my mouse, on waranty because it was later than 30 days after purchase.  I had to insist a bit though.

They sent me another Dell USB optical mouse.  This time, it looks like a rebranded Logitech mouse.  When I connected it, the MouseWare application (I had installed for the PS/2 mouse) just poped up because a Logitech mouse had been detected!  Somebody else on Dell forums suggested to use Logitech mouse too.  I didn't have any failure for this functionality since I installed the new mouse.  I like this feature: place the document, press the button then Dell scanning application appears with the preview.

I don't know if this can explain the pointer jumps.

Hi, I've been having the same problem with my 922 printer. After 10 days of discussions with technical support, Dell sent me an optical corded mouse (DP/N 0D1161) but the problem persists. They are asking me to perform a Pcrestore. I am reluctant to do it, as it would mean messing up with the computer,  reinstall all the programs, hope that the backup would work....Was the replacement mouse sent to you the same model than mine?

They sent me a different model than the one I had.  I will check the part number this evening and post it on this forum.  In the meantime, if you have a P/S 2 mouse it should work.

I personally wouldn't go with the pcrestore yet.  For me, the problem really disappeared just by changing the mouse.

The DP/N of the new mouse I got is: OT0943
I can see "Logitech" in tiny letters.

The Dell support case number I had opened for this problem is: 99242779. When sending the new mouse, the representative gave me the dispatch# 57143686. It should be sufficient for you to ccontact Dell again and get the right mouse model.

So far the mouse has been working perfectly and I didn't get the scan button problem anymore.

    Good luck!.

    Daniel.
