I experienced the printing problem caused by IE 11. Per guidance from this forum, uninstalled IE 11 which defaulted back to IE 10...and problem solved.
I recently had to reinstall Windows 7 from scratch. This resulted in IE 8 being the default. Had numerous operating problems associated with 32 bit vs 64 bit. I tried to download windows 10 but was denied by Microsoft. Then one morning I got notice that I had 107 windows updates to install. I allowed the install and it solved all operating problems but in the process brought me back to IE 11 and the printing problems. I'm aware of the alternate solution but that don't work well for me since I'm not near the printer. I reviewed all the installed updates to see if IE 10 was installed prior to IE 11. It don't appear that it was. I've tried to download IE 10 but unable....get message "You have the latest IE version".
Question: If I uninstall IE 11 will it revert back to IE 10 or will I be left without any IE?
Open Internet Explorer, click on Help, then click on About Internet Explorer. It should show the version there. If you have IE11, then go to control panel, Windows Update, Installed Updates, look for Internet Explorer 11. Click on Internet Explorer 11, uninstall.
Restart the computer, when prompted. Then see if your printer works.
The other option is to turn off the balloon tips for the printer.
Start, control panel, devices and printer, your printer, printing preferences, advanced, more options. Tell it to never show. The problem with this setting is you cannot tell if you're low on ink, printer jams, Etc.
I eventually solved the issue. As I thought would happen when I uninstalled IE11 my computer reverted back to IE 9, and I was unable to download IE 10. On the Windows 7 forum I was advised to hide the uninstalled IE 11 and after couple of days I would received IE 10 as a Update. Sure enough it did. So I now have IE 10 and the printer works as it should. Thanks much.
