Dell Datasafe problem I can't fix...Please help?????

Hi guys,

I can't find an answer to my problem. Dell datasafe online backup has worked for me for years but now comes up with this message in the report log

[12/01/11-08:07:52]    Backup Session Started
[12/01/11-08:08:13]    Backup Finished with error(s). LA2816: Internet DNS lookup failed for 'AUr2dell.backup.com'; check your Internet connection and/or your Internet security settings

I have systematically disabled all virus, firewall, malware stuf etc etc but still the message comes up????

Does anyone have any ideas as this service backs up all my work and personal data.

Thanks guys!

    thomasdavey,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

What are you internet security settings set to in the internet options? Restart the system and turn off the firewall and all the other programs you mentioned above to see if the program will work. You may also need to make sure you have  no other firewalls turned on. Check the settings in the firewall to allow this program to work.

I first went into internet options and reduced the risk profile to medium but the same problem occured. I then exited out of ALL my security programs for malware, virus, adware, and all firewalls turned off. After a restart, the same problem happened without ANYTHING on to block the program? What other solutions could there be as my backups are critical because this is a work computer. Please help......thanks (-:

I have exactly the same problem ("LA2816" etc).

Apart from needing an answer to what causes this problem, I would like to know: has the back-up actually stored all the data up to the point where this error occurs?

My laptop was on-line for a whole week getting to this point (82% of back-up completed) resulting in my going well over my broadband allowance with the result that I now have to pay for the extra broadband time - all for nothing achieved if no data was actually backed-up!!

If this cannot be resolved I would have no option but to cancel my use of the service and try to get my money back (except I cannot even find out how to contact Dell in order to do that!!!!).

    Somebody......PLEASE HELP!!!!
