CD Drive driver software
Chasing a BSoD messages that pointed to a new CD/DVD drive's driver I discovered the System Information screen (run/msinfo32). I have also discovered that some of the listed drivers have files names such as /??/c:/windows/programs.
The ? symbols would seem to point to a problem. Does anyone know what this means and how to proceed if it does point to a potential problem?

Hi Gstick,
I see Mike ~ Skybird has been working with you on the driver issue, did you give the uninstall from Device Manager a try?
If that did not help, shutdown, open the case and disconnect the IDE cable from the drive and leave off. Turn the system back on, does Windows load normally now?
I would double check your jumper settings on the new drive. Dell ships their systems using the cable select jumper feature, not Master/Slave.
Best Regards
God, grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway,
the good fortune to run into the ones I do
and the eyesight to tell the difference.
