edit: after searchng around i have found that the error code is "03/0C/00" and that it has something to do with SCSI. I have also tried ASPI update given at Predator's web page. no success. still get the same error msg. :(
I have tried burning different type of data (music, files,CD copy) with different software (Roxio, Nero ). always get a coaster with the same error in the log message "File Writer.cpp, Line 335 Write error"
The CD is always partially burned. When i visually chk the burnt part it varies anywhere from just a small portion of it to nearly full.
I have made a lot of coasters so far trying to test it with different combos. The log message u see is from 4X speed.
I am beginning to think it must be something unique to my machine. Can anybody help
also i had to do a parallel install within 1 month of purchase. hadn't burnt a cd with the original config. running win xp professional now.
edit: remember now. did burn some cd's with the original config w/o any problem
Given some more info frm the log file below
12:01:36 PM #15 Phase 36 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1571 Burn process started at 4x (600 KB/s)
12:01:36 PM #16 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 1950 Verifying CD position of item 0 (relocatable, CD pos, no patch infos, orig at #0): write at #0
12:01:36 PM #17 Text 0 File Mmc.cpp, Line 12734 StartDAO : CD-Text - Off
12:01:36 PM #18 Text 0 File Mmc.cpp, Line 17280 Set BUFE: JustLink -> ON , JustSpeed : ON
Sometimes there's a conflict and you'll get burns that usually stop at about 89%. If thats the case then uninstall one of the burning programs them and just use the other one.

I did some research and you may have a bad batch of media or incompatable media according to the search. Try burning a disc from a different batch and see if that works.
You haven't mention anything about your profile of your 2400 , how much memory do you have ? What i would do first is uninstall Roxio and nero ,check and make your there are gone completely, do a disk clean up , delete all your cookies, defrag, and then go into device manager and uninstall your rewriter, reboot, windows xp will reinstall the rewriter. Then I would install Roxio.( I don't know what version you have of Roxio but I have version 6 and have had no problems with it) (version 7 is out by the way) I have found usiing fuji media to be very dependable. Now if you like Nero better than Roxio, install that instead, but not two of them on the same computer.Make sure all your windows are closed before starting your burn.Disable your antivirus software

removed all burning software - pinnacle, roxio, nero, sonic - didn't realise had so many.
installed easy cd creater 5. got a coaster again. :(
1. when i restarted and logged back on got a "Pinnacle Driver check - Pinnace Driver Check detected problems with your driver settings. Would you like to fix these now? " message box.
So did a search. downloaded regdelete s/w from pinnacle site and cleaned the registry. then restarted and got the message again.
Any help to remove this would be appreciated!!
2. had easy cd creator 6 trial version. i used the removal tool downloaded form predator's webpage. It asked whether to remove ver 4 or 5. pressed ok. it left behind the entries in the program list. so guess was not a proper uninstall. now i can't do an unistall using control panel either. how do i remove this?
Also, is there a way ot check and make sure the s/w's have been properly removed?

There is no such thing as a "Trial Version" of ECD 6! If it is something you downloaded, you got pirated junk!
Roxizap will remove anything with Adaptec or Roxio from your PC except V7.
Thanks for ur reply. my bad about the "trial version". me lot confused abt when/how i installed so many software on my machine
i deleted all registry entries. Installed nero. performed simulation. gave me a buffer underrun error. but told me to carry on as justlink should take care of that. however the simulation log file gave me the following
SCSI Exec, HA 1, TA 1, LUN 0, buffer 0x022E0000 Status: 0x04 (0x01, SCSI_ERR) HA-Status 0x00 (0x00, OK) TA-Status 0x02 (0x01, SCSI_TASTATUS_CHKCOND) Sense Key: 0x03 (KEY_MEDIUM_ERROR) Sense Code: 0x0C Sense Qual: 0x00
the same 03/0C/00 error.
the end of the log file with the driver info -
Existing drivers: File 'Drivers\ASPI32.SYS': Ver=4.60 (1021), size=25244 bytes, created 9/10/1999 7:06:00 AM File 'Drivers\atapi.sys': Ver=5.1.2600.1106 (xpsp1.020828-1920), size=86912 bytes, created 8/29/2002 1:27:50 AM (Adapter driver for rec)
While doing the Current System configuration on the Dell support page, it showed the Easy CD creator 6 s/w still there. I used the roxizap and then deleted the registry entries too. Why is it still showing up?

thanks for the reply.
The problem started when i had only one software - roxio. the other softwares came later.
is there any way I can tell for sure that the problem was caused by a conflict
