My vertical blinking cursor disappears every 3-5 minutes.  I noticed when in a chatroom, my arrow pointer gets the hour glass over it for 2 seconds and then the cursor disappears.  At that point I have to left click on the bar where we type to get it back, but 3-5 minutes later, it happens again.  I spoke to AOL and they said that it sounds like a virus and a scan showed the Klez worm.   I cleared the hard drive and restored everything, but still have the problem.  1 month later my hard drive crashed and I bought a new one and still have the problem.  I noticed that it doesn't only happen in chatrooms.  MS Word has the same thing but the cursor locks up instead of disappearing.  I see the same thing on the Desktop, with the hour glass for 2 seconds, but of course there is no cursor to lose on the desktop.  I run Norton antivirus 2004 every week and it cant find any problems, so I changed every audio sound on the computer to see it that would help.  What is happening is that Windows Explorer is being run every 3-5 minutes as if going to a new window and taking my cursor with it and only left clicking can get it back.  I hear the audio sound that I set for Windows Explorer and thats how I found this out.  Since then I have found 5 others with the same problem.

 

Dell support hasn't been much help other than clearing the hard drive and reinstalling.  Even the pay level of support couldnt find the answer.
