Help with HijackThis Scan?

Hello! I am having some problems with my Dell...Keep getting annoying popups, and my homepage has been changed and won't go back. Also my system has slowed greatly. I am using Yahoo High Speed DSL and it has the AntiSpy and Pop Up Blocker but I have run these scans and it's fixed nothing. So I ran this HijackThis scan, and here's what I got. Can anyone help me to sort this out? Thanks in advance!

    We can definitely help you, but first you need to help us. You are quite behind on your Windows Updates and Patches!!

    The first step in this process is to apply Service Pack 1a for Windows XP. Without this update, you're wide open to re-infection, and we're both just wasting our time.
    Please visit this link: Microsoft Service Pack 1a
    and follow the directions for Express Installation under " Installing SP1a on Your Computer".

    **IMPORTANT: DO NOT update to Service pack 2. Doing so before your computer is malware free can cause Windows to become unstable. We will update to SP2 when your system is clean.

    Next, go to Windows Update and install all the Critical Updates (Note: Except for WinXP SP2)

    After installing the Patches and updates, reboot.

    Please delete the copy of HijackThis that is running from the .zip.

    Click HERE to download a self-extractable version of HijackThis.
    • Double click on hijackthis.exe to extract hijackthis to folder c:\hijackthis.
    • It will extract it to that folder and open the folder for you.
    • It will also create a shortcut on your desktop to HijackThis.

    • It will scan and the log should open in notepad.Click on "Edit > Select
    • All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the
    • log.
    Come back here to this thread and paste the log in your next reply.
    DO NOT have HijackThis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

    After we review your new log we can proceed.
