Vostro 3560

Hi There,

I have a Vostro 3560 with Intel Core i5-3 230M.

Does anyone know the best backward compatible I7 I can get to upgrade my processor?

You'll need to check which socket your motherboard has... this can be easily done through Aida64, by navigating till the "processor details" on left menu. I have a laptop CCE that uses FPGA988... mainly distributed with a Core i5 2410m... and the best processor that I could find to use there, and also avaliable to be bought in 2014 was the i7 3820QM... thats a quad-core processor with its stock clock on 2.7GHz and boost to 3.7GHz. 45w TDP and... you can access Intel's website for a full specs... But at the end, I decided to buy a new notebook... because that one does not have a dedicated graphics card... So... i think the best one you can get will be the 3820QM or maybe 3740QM (both has the same spec, a little changes in SmartCache and Graphics frequency, but the i7 3820QM runs on FCPGA and the i7 3740QM can be used on FCBGA and FPGA) The difference between both sockets are all over its size! 37.5 x 37.5mm (rPGA988B OR FCPGA); 31.0 x 24.0mm (BGA1224 OR FCBGA)
