Black screen when Windows loads
Hello
I've got a Dell Latitude D620 with a strange problem. When I start the computer the computer starts, but when Windows XP Pro starts to load the screen gets black.
I've run dell diag. but found no errors. I've run a Windows repair (chkdsk), and that didn't solve the problem. I've seen the exact same problem with a Dell Inspiron 510M.
What should I do?

Try booting in Save Mode to see if it is a driver or configuration setting that is causing the problem. If it works in Safe Mode then it is just a matter of finding what is causing the problem. If it does the same problem in Safe Mode then a repair install could very well be the required fix.

You may need to do a windows repair function. Chkdsk is not a windows repair it is a harddrive check.
Since you cannot access windows at all you cannot run a system file checker check, so your next best option would be a repair reinstall.
