Dead Computer - Please Help!

Restarted computer on Saturday and got the following screen "We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully...."  I cannot start in safe mode, last know good configuration does not work, nor does start windows normally work.

I have a Dell Dimension 4600C ~ 4 years old.

Any suggestions as to what I can do next??  I have some very important photos on my hard drive that I don't have backed up - can you help me?

Thanks,

Becky

Sounds like you have corruption in the startup files for windows. Might be the hd is going out. The good news is since you are getting any message at bootup that means your hd is spinning which means you can recover your pictures. But I would do that soon just in case. Just take the drive out of the computer and slave it to a working computer and you can use windows explorer as an example to copy your pictures and files. Once you do that then you can try formatting the drive and install windows again if you have the Windows CD to do that.
