encrypting files

Sorry if I have the wrong group, but I have been quite ill for over 2 years
and am just not improving enough to start and catch up. In particular, I am
starting to fly again and there are a few files on my laptop that are
sensitive. Hence this query.

I am looking at "Advanced Encryption Packpage 2007: Pro 4.5.7" available at
http://www.download.com/Advanced-Encryption-Package-2007-Professional/3000-2092_4-10607793.html?tag=emailThis

Here's my question. I will buy an XPS with Vista in January. I have an XPS at
my office purchased earlier this year that has XP Pro. I also have a
Latitude D810 with Xp Pro. And I use Lexar's Lightning (Pro?) 2.0 (or 2 mg)
memory stick to transfer files between them.

If I purchase this encryption software will it even keep the files encrypted
since I copy some of them to one or more of the computers every week using
the Lexar stick? And will adding Vista to the mix complicate things?

Thanks.

You'll have to install the software on each computer to access the encrypted data.  Contact the company about whether or not it works under Vista.  You might have to run it under compatibility mode.

Thanks. I have sent a note to the vendor because I need to know if my method of copying the files is an issue since I've read that it is problematic for some encryption programs. Then perhaps it is hard to speculate about how Vista will fit, it but $50 is a bit too much to pay for a program that might become useless in less than 2 months.
