ENOUGH VIDEO RAM FOR AERO

I've had several opinions as to wether my Geforce 7300LE can handle aero interface. I have 512MB video memory. Any feedback would be appreaciated. Thanks

If you have that much video RAM, I can not see any way that Aero will not work.

That's a little different different info.  The 128 is being doubled by borrowoing from the System RAM and Vista likes 256 of dedicated video RAM.

What does the Vista upgrade site tell you?

Clairification to my last post. 64mb on board memory up to 192mb system memory used to get 256mb. This is listed under product details of E521. I still don't know how I got 512mb.

Vista said I was ok had 256MB
Dell said it wouldn't run AERO had to upgrade to a radeon X 1300 for 149.00
    Cnet said I was ok
Because of other posts  I read I checked into specs of card  In the fine print I discovered it was only a 128MB(on Dell website)

Thanks for the reply. I'm still pretty much a novice at this tech stuff. I thought my card was 256MB when I got my system(Dell says). After digging around their web site I discovered it was 128MB, but with the turbo cache it was 256MB. My detailed system info says I have 512MB. Just a little confusing. I guess it got configured that way since I got 2GB total system RAM. Thanks Again

    The Dell utility is lying.

My E1505 with 64M onboard runs it lag-free. You'll be fine.

The nVidia 7300 LE TurboCache is not capable to produce AERO-GLASS effect on the computer. As per the system requirements for AERO-GLASS, you need the following:

    1 GHz Processor
    1 GB DDR2 RAM
128 MB Video Card (Video RAM)
    40 GB HDD
    DVD-ROM

The reason for the video card to not support AERO-GLASS is that the video card is a turbocache one. Turbocache video cards have half the VRAM on the video card and the other half is aquired from the System RAM. Your card is a 128 MB Turbocache. This means that the video card has 64 MB of VRAM and the other 64 MB is aquired from the system memory. However, I have seen some computers to have AERO-GLASS effect with this video card as well. Theoritically, it should not work. But in practical terms it should work.

I am wondered about the fact that your computer shows up the VRAM as 512 MB. Please check in the BIOS for the Video Memory. If it shows 512 MB, you are lucky. BIOS should show this card as a 64 MB video card. If that is the case, you can try to get the AERO effect after updating the video drivers. You can update the video drivers from the following site:

This should help. Please do let me know where you found the video memory as 512 MB.

I right-clicked on the desktop. It shows on dropdown menu nvidia display option. It shows 128 dedicated ram and 512 total. I also found 512 in detailed system info through the help and support option on start menu.

Your card should be able to run Aero. Aero does not depend on memory amount, it really depends on DX9 and PS2 support.

I heard some people were running Aero with a nVidia GeForce FX5200 mobile card with 32MB RAM.
