Help with RE-installing/restoring/reformating/whatever Windows XP

I am having trouble with my XPS computer, the main one is that the NTFS files are corrupted beyond restore, so i have to reinstall XP. when i try to do this with a OEM XP Home Disk. When i load the drivers(for my XPS 400, got the drivers from dell) it gets an error every time. So, well, can anyone help?

What drivers are you using exactly? How are you Loading them?
    What is the exact error?

You need to be more specific for us to help.

What is an "NTFS" file?  NTFS refers to permissions.
