I hate these .DLL files!

I've just recently installed the Sims2 and it wont run firstly because the file D3D9.DLL is missing. So I downloaded it and stuck it in the systems file. Then it said the DDRAW.DLL file is missing so I did the same. Now its telling me "the D3D9.DLL file is linked to the missing export file DDRAW.DLL:dEntry21" and still wont run. What else can I do? Thankyou soooo much if you can help

i searched for that exact error message and found a few. "the D3D9.DLL file is linked to the missing export file DDRAW.DLL:dEntry21". all mention direct x. but at microsoft sez directx cant be uninstalled. so, How do I uninstall DirectX?
DirectX 9.0 is a system component and cannot be uninstalled. If there is a problem with the DirectX installation, it can normally be resolved by shutting down all running applications and reinstalling. As mentioned previously, DirectX 9.0 is fully backward-compatible with titles written for previous versions of DirectX. If you are having other problems after installing DirectX 9.0, these can often be resolved by installing updated drivers for your display card, audio card, or input device.
As with most software, users of Windows ME and Windows XP have the option of creating a "System Restore point" before installing. System Restore points allow you to roll back your operating system to a time before the software was installed. If you feel there are special circumstances which may necessitate removal of DirectX. It is recommended that you create a System Restore point. Windows 98, Windows 98 SE, and Windows 2000 do not support the "System Restore" feature.

    im so blue today/

how many temp files, what about .gid, .bak, .old, these are all deletable but never delete install logs because  install logs are need to perform the uninstall.

when i first bought my computer dell said this enough, that was ridiculous, pay say 1100 dollars for a computer and skip on the the ram? not anymore i have 512mb (mb?) ram. the most possible without having to adjust anything.

this article talks about about virtual memory.http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;259184&Product=winme

anyway what u do is cleanup, etc turn off  everything except scanregistry and system tray, have no screensaver, defragement, reboot, disable virtual memory, reboot, defragement, reboot, enable virtual memory, (i never specify an amount ,i let windows manage it), if windows sezs not enough memory available  just restart in safe mode to enable virtual memory,. after all this the swap file is in one piece at the end of everything else. else wise its all over the place.

     thanx , brian

    Sarah421,

Be very careful about purchasing RAM. Dells can be picky about it. You are safe getting it from either Dell or Crucial who guarantee that it will work. Otherwise you may end up having to return and repurchase.
