UNSOLVED
I have a laptop that is from 2007
I believe the machine may have taken a power hit and need to reload software. I have moved recently and can not find the software c/d that came or did not come with it. dell installed as the usual method i my ordering . I have purchased several units from dell and wonder if i can get a copy of the Microsoft software sent to me.
Sort of down in the mud without the machine
thanks

You can order a set of replacement disks from Dell here if you're in the US - elsewhere, you'll need to contact your local Dell Tech Support and ask:
http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dsn/en/document?c=us&dl=false&l=en&s=gen&docid=3A1C590C9132AB20E040A68F5B28350B&doclang=en&cs
However, if you have an Operating System Reinstallation disk from another Dell, that's the same exact version (Vista Home, Vista Business, XP Pro, etc.) you can use that disk instead. Dell disks are not model specific, and the license to use the OS belongs to the machine, not the disk. But the actual OS version needs to be the same to comply with the orignal license agreement.
With a power hit, though, there may be more damage than just a scrambled hard drive. I'll cross my fingers for you.
