missing HCAPPRESS.DLL

Hi everyone,

I recently had to do a clean install.  Now when I go to start/help nothing happens.  I then went to start/search for files and folders/help/Helpctr.exe and it tells me  "a required .DLL file, HCAPPRES.DLL was not found"  How do I get it back?  Dell on-line support told me to call their software 800 number which includes a fee.  It was a bad hard drive that Dell replaced for me causing the clean install.  I have WinMe, dimension 4100,NAV2003.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Newbeee

    newbee,

It is located in win_11.cab on your ME reinstallation CD. Extract it from there using the procedure here and put it in C:\Windows\System.

I have the same problem after installing Norton Anti virus 2005. I was able to retrieve the file from the ME startup CD from a different computer, but the desktop can not read from the disk drive. I am only able to strat up in safe mode.

    Please help.

    Thanks for the support.

In the mean time I upgraded my system to Windows XP so the concern of not getting access to my computer is solved.

    Regards
