NORTON UPDATES GONE PLEASE HELP

When I go to live update for norton internet security, the only thing listed is Live Reg. Just a few days ago there were a lot of items listed as they normally are. I dont know what happened and asking if anyone can help me with this situation. I have winxp home edition sp1, on a dell 8250 P4 computer.

Ok, but does this mean that all the updates, security, virus definitions etc. are now gone, and the computer is now not protected? Denny I have done what volcano 11 has said but it did not change anything on this computer. Where all my downloads or updates norton internet security show up when you go to live update, it is just blank in the screen. It shows that I have nothing in there.

Just read and follow the directions here. This page has changed a few times in the last few days but the current directions correct the problem.

Open NAV, On its front page it tells you the date of the current virus definitions.

It may well be that when you last used Live update, your virus definitions were up to date, but it had found that you needed the Livereg file to update the software. So that was the only one listed.

    You can also look in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\VirusDefs

There should be one or more folders that have names like dates: yyyymmdd (year month day) corresponding to the more recent virus definition updates. If you click on one of these (say the most recent one) there will be 43 files. One of them is Whatsnew.txt; if you open that in Notepad, you'll see what that update contained.

To open NAV, right click on the icon in the system tray and click open Norton Antivirus; or go to start, programs, Norton Antivirus, click on Norton Antivirus 2003 (or 2004 if that is your version).

if you are still having problems, i would try uninstalling and then reinstalling nav.. i would also go to the symantec website and run their online scanner to see if you are infected with some malware.. (not sure if this is it) http://security.norton.com/sscv6/default.asp?langid=ie&venid=sym

I, too, got nailed with system instability and MS Word problems after installing the 1-7-2004 NAV update. Affected both my desktop and my wife's laptop. Assumed the problems were related to the update but at the time there wasn't anything posted accordingly on the Symantec web site. I posted my problem with Symantec support but hadn't received a reply yet. For whatever reason, uninstalling NAV (I'm running NAV 2003) and then reinstalling it resolved my problems.....or at least I can open Word now without it stalling because NAV is trying to run a scan, although NAV does take longer to load than prior to installing the update.
