Problems with ActiveX Secuity Settings

Hello

II have problems downloading specific software due to the subject. For example: Rand McNally TripLink, House call from Trend Micro (virus check of system through the Internet) and just today I tried to download a virus check of my system before loading my Norton anti virus program (which is on the Symantec website) and received the error message: "ActiveX setting will not allow download".  I follow the instruction for the settings recommended for ActiveX and even sometimes remove all restrictions but the result is always the same, i. e., "Activex settings do not permit download to this page". Most of the time (85%) I have no problems downloading but when the problem arises there is no way to get around it. I have done complete sweeps with "Ad-Aware" and Spybot and the system is squeaky clean including the registry. Thanks for any help on this matter.

You probably tried this one already. Put URL, ie http://housecall.trendmicro.com/, into your Trusted Sites and hit Default or lower security.

Thanks for your reply. I have tried using the trusted sites with the lowest of security  and it still does not allow the download! Do your know if any body has had any luck with a reinstall of ActiveX? Is there a reinstall of ActiveX? Thanks

I don't believe there is a separate module for Activex. I would run qfecheck (link to follow). After any re-installations I would run sfc /scannow. And if you're familiar with the registry , look at this page and see if you can use it.

Possibly. I don't know. Next time you visit one post it to this thread and I'll give it a try.

    Help.

Norton's scan says I have problems with  Active X/com. Tried running the fixes and they say that it is fixed but when you rescan it shows up again. Could this be why links on certain website don't show up?
