problems with reinstalling windows XP home
Recently my Inspiron E1405 began giving me the message
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
/system32/hal.dll.
Please re-install a copy of the file above
i obtained a copy of the windows XP home re-install disk and booted form disk. At the bottom it says that its loads all the files but when it says its setup is starting windows it crashes to a blue screen
STOP: 0x0000007E
According to Microsoft I may need to update my BIOS setting but i have no way to download the drivers because windows will not start.
Any ideas to fix this problem?
