That's a diagnostic utility for TWAIN/imaging devices.  If you have a scanner installed (or related software), that's more than likely how it got there.

Might even be part of a 3rd party photo or imaging application.  It might help to know where it's located, as well as the properties of the file.  It might also help to know if you even have a scanner installed, if so, what brand, as well as what photo/imaging software might be on there.

Then again, you're free to just do a Google search for the file name yourself, and compare the results to what you have installed.

I received a response from Epson and they said that it didn't have anything to do with Epson.

give us some more info.. if the file is "hidden", how did you find it? and where is it located? if you have scanned it with your av and the av did not detect malware, i would not worry too much about it, but still, it could be related to "spyware".. are you experiencing any problems?

Well heres the deal, I checked on show hidden files while going to the cd burning folder to delete some stuff stored there.  I noticed the file when I clicked on C:  The path is C:\twacker.  It's a text document, no attributes checked.  I opened it with notepad and it read:  TwAcquire Entry, OpenDS Success, TwxFermech, DoMem Transfer, Dasable DS, DS Disabled, Close DS.  It says this in block form over and over.  I have an epson scanner.  I wrote them and they say it has nothing to do with them. 

                                                                                                                                                              

For crying out loud, do a Google search for either Twacker or TwAcquire Entry, and you'll see that there are other people with the same files, none of whom have found any of them to be malicious, and all of whom have narrowed it down to imaging software.  It doesn't necessarily have to be Epson's software (although at least one party reporting the presence of the file does have an Epson scanner, and truth to tell, I'm not sure Epson would know whether it came from something bundled with one of their products anyway).

using google to search for "twacker" was a good suggestion.. yes, it is associated with scanners (i now see).. i don't know why i didn't think of searching for the file, before, myself..

I did a google search and all kinks of searches.  Came up with all kinks of bull  also.  Nothing conclusive.  I've already deleted twacker with no problems associated with the scanner (epson).  Thanks everyone, but some people do seem to get carried away with answering.  You know who?
