viruses
i accidently clicked on one of those popups that tells me that i have a virus and need to download the antivirus software, big mistake now i have all kind of viruses on my computer i dont want to buy an antivirus program my question is how do i wipe my computer clean like brand new without using the cd's. something like pressing the F12 key but i dont remember how to do it????? Please help me!!!!!

Before you do this let me see if I can find the fix instructions for this virus so you have a choice of how to fix this problem.

If you have windows xp/vista/2000:
download and install the FREE version of
MalwareBytes Anti-Malware [MBAM].check for updates.run a QUICK scanand allow it to REMOVE/QUARANTINE any items it finds..MBAM should open NotePad, with a log/report of what it found/fixed. SAVE this file to a convenient location, so that you will be able to access and post it later on, if needed.
The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
Copy and Paste the entire report into a New Message on the HijackThis Board.
Also include a fresh HijackThis log. Instructions for downloading HijackThis are at the top of that forum.

to start your own thread requesting assistance for a follow-up check to be sure the malware is gone.
2. In the Message Body window that opens, simply Right-Click and select Paste.

Run the Dell PC Restore Utility
Power the computer on.
When the Dell screen appears press and hold the Ctrl key on the keyboard, press the F11 key, then release them both at the same time.
The Dell PC Restore by Symantec window appears.
NOTE: Only press the keys one time, if you press them more than once you will receive a keyboard error and will have to start the process over.
Click the Restore button.
A caution message appears advising that all data will be lost.
Click the Confirm button.
The progress window appears.
When the restore is complete the message The system recovery process was successful. appears.
Click the Finish button.
The computer will restart.
Your software is now back to the way it was when you first received your computer
