What would happen?

I'm curious, what would happen if I tried to load my Dell Reinstall CD on a nother system (non Dell)?
I have no need to do this but have wondered about it for a long time.

Unless Dell has made some changes with the newer models, the use of a Dell supplied CD will not work on a non-Dell system.  This is due to the installation CD first checking BIOS to see if it is indeed a Dell system.  If it isn't, the CD won't install.

That sounds reasonable. I sure wouldn't want to go through those updates every 30 days. Thank you!

On the contrary it will install, but it will then begin to ask you for the product key which is only good for your dell computer. After a month of not entering your product key the system will lock you out.
