XPS 15 9500, keeps needing a headphone jack replacement

Hi all,

I bought my Dell XPS 15 9500 about a year ago. Since then, I have replaced the headphone jack on it three times. After Dell replaces the headphone jack, it starts to die out again after three to four weeks. The problems start with the headphones sounding muffled and the left ear cup cutting out from time to time. I have to adjust the position of the 3.5mm jack to get them to work properly, but any slight movement will cause the problems to come back. The problem then advances to the left ear cup not working at all and the right ear cup sounding very muffled. No amount of wiggling the 3.5mm headphone jack fixes the problem. I have reached out to Dell support many times, and they have not been able to identify any problems with the software, so they send a technician out to replace the headphone jack assembly.

I was wondering if anyone has been having this issue or can identify the real issue of why my headphone jack keeps dying. It is a hassle to talk to Dell support as I'm usually on the phone with them for at least two hours as they run through diagnostics. I don't want them to keep coming back to replace my headphone jack every couple of months. I want them to fix the root cause of this issue.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks!
