XPS 9630 (XPS-13)

My 9360 had the warranty extension until March of this year. At the end of 2019/beginning of 2020, I noticed that I couldn't do left clicks on the touchpad and the pad itself looked a bit "sunken" on the front left. The tech came out, took it apart, saw that he had the wrong part and came back a few days later to swap it out.

After that, because COVID, I used the computer primarily with a docking station, so I rarely opened the lid. Mid 2020, I started using at a laptop again and noticed the same identical problem, but everything was working and the problem was initially only cosmetic. At the end of the year, the left click stopped working again and the corner of the trackpad was raised from the chassis, so I put in another ticket and a tech came out in January. During that repair, the tech damaged the motherboard, so they came back a few weeks later to fix that.

The computer went back to dock duty and in May I started using it as a laptop again. Sure enough, a month later the touchpad started looking wonky again (alternating from sunken to raised depending on if the laptop was on a desk or on a lap. In June the left click again stopped working, so I contacted Dell warranty and explained the situation - specifically that the root cause of the problem was clearly not found at any of the attempted repairs. In addition, during the last repair, the tech appears to have lost a screw in the base and there appears to be something rattling around inside.

After several weeks of back and forth, they denied a goodwill repair and have ignored my requests to escalate their issue.

Might someone here have any thoughts on how to escalate this to someone who look at the issue rationally and not just say "you're out of warranty"

Just to put this into context - I currently have nine Dells in my house (the 5530 I'm typing this on is still under extended warranty), so Dell has clearly made quite a bit of money on me. I could (and ultimately will if I must) raise this issue with our agency Dell rep, but this is more appropriate.

Thanks for reading all this and pointing me in the right direction. This is not a bloated battery issue and it is obvious that this is merely an extension of the original problem.

Contacting dell Cares doesn't work as their bot just responds back with "you're no longer under warranty, go away."

As a bit of trivia, I just ran into the receipt for my first "real" DOS desktop computer (after a couple of Commodores, TI-99, RadioShack "Trash 80" and so forth) was the Dell Pro tower in 1995'ish for a hair under $4000. It had 8 megs of memory and a huge 8gb hard drive. I paired it with a Sony 21 inch monitor that cost $2500. I thought that was the cat's meow - especially after I added the Northgate keyboard.

Thinking about it, I realized that I had other computers before - a Wang laptop with 512kb of memory and a (huge) 10MB hard drive followed by an IBM P70. The Wang ran Word, WordPerfect, Pagemaker, Lotus 1-2-3 and everything fit on the hard drive.

But back to the issue at hand - how do I contact someone who can resolve this?
