Local devices and resources - How to restrict access to local disk drives and enable access to the local cdrom drive

Hello All,

Is there a smart way to restrict access to the local disk drive(s) and enable access to the local cdrom drive of client access devices when connecting to VDI desktops ?

If so how do you achieve this on Windows XP and on Windows 7.

Thanks

- Dennis

Hi Michel,

Is there a way to map local drives like \\tsclient\D to a physical drive letter which will be available in the VDI desktop ?

I thought this was not possible..

Thanks

- Dennis

Hi Dennis,

If the CDROM drive is always the same letter then you can hide and disable the other drive letters using our ‘drive restrictions’.

Dennis,

You could script it and it will work but it is one of those gray areas as you would have to make sure the \\tsclient\X is always going to be the same.

     net use z: \\tsclient\d

You could even use our console to map it but since it is a 'client drive' it may appear to hang PNSHELL during the login process due to the mapping verification of the drive.
